Unit 1: International Relations 1900-1939

With so many tensions and conflicts inthe world today it is crucial that students understand both their origin and nature. By focusing on the period 1900-1939 students get a grounding in many of the problems which then led to later troubles in the Balkan regions and Eastern Europe. This unit also gives an insight to the problems faced by peace keeping organisations like the League of Nations.

Students cover 3 sections:

1. Why did War break out? 1900-1914

2. The Peace Settlement; 1918-28

3. Why did war break out? 1929-39

The Exam

Students sit a formal examination in the June of Year 10.

It is 1 hour 15 minutes long.

They paper consists of 3 sections, 1 on each of the above sections.

Each section has 3 questions; a 2 mark, a 6 mark and a 12 mark question.
